About the Project

In Fall 2015, the Construction Industry Institute (CII) announced a three-year, three-million-dollar agreement with the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) to enhance maintenance and construction productivity in the energy and chemicals industry. Dr. Carlos Caldas (UT) and Dr. Stephen Mulva (CII) are the principal investigators. CII’s proposal was selected because of its longstanding leadership position in construction productivity research and expertise on this topic. The program draws on the CII Performance Assessment Program and the findings of CII’s landmark RT 252, the Construction Productivity Research Program, a six-year effort that examined technologies and best practices for construction productivity improvement. The project, co-sponsored by representatives of the process construction and maintenance sector, the energy and chemicals industry, and the government of Singapore, includes the research and implementation of several productivity management and measurement practices.
