From time to time you may see a window like one of these:

These pop up when the software that the Information Technology Office uses to manage security updates and other software packages is ready to install something on your computer.

Why am I seeing this?

Information security is becoming more and more important all the time. Various groups of hackers on the Internet are constantly inventing new ways to break into your computer. The reasons for this range from common pranks to organized crime to warefare between governments. Regular users find themselves (and their data!) caught in the middle of these online conflicts.

All employees of the University are responsible for any data on their computers related to University business. Security patches are considered a mandatory part of an overall security scheme. You may sometimes see a window like this on your computer when mandatory security updates are ready for your computer.
