USING THE DIGITAL VIDEO PATCH PANEL PATCH THE FOLLOWING:
I. PATCH DECK OUT SDI (Digibeta SDI OUT) TO KONA 1, 2, OR 3 IN. THIS WILL ROUTE BOTH AUDIO AND VIDEO SIGNAL 
ON THE MACHINE CONTROL PATCH PANEL PATCH THE FOLLOWING:
II. PATCH MACHINE CONTROL DIGIBETA TO KONA 1,2,OR 3
III PUT DIGIBETA DECK IN REMOTE
1. In Kona Suite open the Kona Control Panel from the icon in the dock
2. Click on “Formats” and change “Primary” (native) format to 525i 29.97 for digitizing from the DIGIBETA deck. Change the “Secondary” (converted) to 1080i29.97. Change the “Conversion” setting to “Up = Pillarbox 4 x 3” “Down = Letterbox. That sets how the image will look when it is up or downconverted through the card. (NOTE: Kona 2 suite has the LH card so ignore Upconversion step)

3. Click on the “Inputs” tab and select video input SDI 1 should read 525i29.97 and Audio set to Embedded ch 1-8


4. Click on Digital Out tab and set SDI output 1 Primary as 525i29.97 and SDI output 2 Secondary as 1080i29.97


5. Click on the “Analog Out” Set Monitor Audio: to Ch 1-2


6. Launch Final Cut Pro (icon located in the dock)
7. Close any projects that are open and make a new FCP project
8. Change the Easy Setup to set FCP settings for capturing DV footage. Go to >Final Cut Pro>Easy Setup>set it to AJA Kona 2 (or LH) -NTSC 10Bit Uncompressed


9. Set the “Scratch Disk” to the KONA SAN disk or SATA Drive in >Final Cut Pro >System Settings. Click OK


10. Set the “Scratch Disk” to the KONA SAN disk or SATA Drive in >Final Cut Pro >System Settings. Click OK.  Save the project in the Final Cut Projects folder located on the Mac desktop.
11. Open up Log and Capture tools “apple 8” and begin batch capturing. Select the sequence in the bin and capture the sequence >File > Batch Capture


In the next menu that pops up select the following:
Capture all selected items
“Check” Coalesce overlapping clips “Check” Use logged clip settings Capture Preset: AJA Video:Kona SD NTSC 10 bit
12. The capture tool will ask you to load in your first tape and once it is loaded batch capture will begin.
13. IT IS SUGGESTED THAT ONCE A TAPE FINISHES CAPTUREING YOU SAVE YOUR PROJECT BEFORE YOU GO ON TO THE NEXT TAPE.
14. To do this hit cancel when prompted for the next tape and go to File – Save Project. Then repeat the steps to continue to Batch Capture.
15. When all footage is captured you can create your titles and credits do color correction add fades and etc. to finish your on-line. See After Effects Rolling Credits Part #1 and After Effects Rolling Credits Part#2.
