Ellen A. Wartella Distinguished Research (formerly Faculty Research Competition) Award Recipients
Inaugurated in 1983, the College Faculty Research Award, now the Ellen A. Wartella Distinguished Research Award, is presented at the fall commencement ceremony. Research articles that are submitted for the competition are considered on their major contributions in terms of conceptual innovations; contribution to the literature in this field; and the methodological, pedagogical, or policy-related advances or contributions made. A committee comprised of faculty from across the College selects the recipients.

Texas Program in Sports and Media
Texas Program in Sports and Media (TPSM) has awarded five summer fellowships for research teams investingating a broad spectrum of issues related to the knotty cultural intersection of sports and media. Fellows come from the School of Journalism and Departments of Advertising and Public Relations, Communication Studies, and Radio-TV-Film. For more information contact Christopher D. Grant Preparation Awards
Inaugurated in 2010, the Grant Preparation Awards is a program that financially supports junior faculty pursuing external funding opportunities for their research projects. In the application, faculty must describe their research and identify a targeted funding opportunity. Twice a year, at the beginning of October and February, the most promising proposals are selected for funding.
