The purpose of this wiki is to explain how to monitor your video material in either 2D or 3D with Avid Media Composer in the UT3D Suite.



USING UT3D WORKSTATION #01 (the LG HDMI external monitor is pictured above) 

1.) Locate the LG remote and power on the monitor by pressing the red power button in the upper left-hand corner

The input should auto-select to HDMI by default.  If necessary, you can toggle through available inputs by pressing the input button

2.) For 2D playback on the monitor press the 3D button on the remote
3.) A text box is displayed when 3D playback is disabled
4.) Launch Avid Media Composer, navigate to your destination, and open your project

It is important to double-check your project's format is set to 2D

From the Project Window, click on the Format tab and make sure Stereoscopic is set to Off

5.) For 3D playback on the monitor press the 3D button on the remote

6.) A text box is displayed when 3D playback is enabled.

This monitor supports both Side by Side and Over and Under as 3D playback modes

Select which type you'll be using to edit with by navigating using the remote cursor arrows and pressing OK/center button to confirm

7.) It is important to double-check your project's format is set to 3D in Avid Media Composer

From the Project Window, click on the Format tab and make sure Stereoscopic is set to Side by Side or Over/Under

8.) When finished, please remember to power off the monitor

Power is indicated as OFF when the center red light is illuminated on the monitor



USING UT3D WORKSTATION #02 (the Sony HD-SDI external monitor is pictured above) 

1.) Power on the monitor by pressing the red button in the upper right-hand corner of the external monitor

The Power button is labeled with the number one for your convenience

The red button should turn to green, indicating the power is on

2.) Press the Control button, located directly below the Power button, to activate the controls for the external monitor

The Control button is labeled with the number two for your convenience

All control buttons should illuminate, indicating they are now active

3.) For 2D playback on the monitor press the A1 button

The A1 button should illuminate red, indicating it is active

4.) Launch Avid Media Composer, navigate to your destination, and open your project

It is important to double-check your project's format is set to 2D

From the Project Window, click on the Format tab and make sure Stereoscopic is set to Off

5.) For 3D playback on the monitor press the A2 button

The A2 button should illuminate red, indicating it is active

6.) Press the F2 button which will also illuminate red, indicating it is active as well

The combination of these two buttons will enable the 3D Mode (Side by Side) on the external monitor

7.) It is important to double-check your project's format is set to 3D in Avid Media Composer

From the Project Window, click on the Format tab and make sure Stereoscopic is set to Side by Side

8.) When in 3D mode, it is often helpful to be able to distinguish the amount of Divergence between the Left & Right eye

To activate this feature on the external monitor press the F1 button

The F1 button should illuminate red, indicating Divergence mode is active

9.) When finished, please remember to power off the monitor

Power is indicated as OFF when the button in the upper right-hand corner is illuminated as red
