Dear research community, the Center for Biomedical Research Support (CBRS) is committed to supporting sanger sequencing and fragment analysis, however I have important updates to share regarding a change to how these services will be offered by the core.

Unforeseen staff shortages will soon have a crippling impact on our ability to operate the Sanger Core.  CBRS is committed to supporting our research community and we are actively recruiting new staff; however, these positions will take time to fill given the challenges with the current hiring environment.  Until we are able to staff the facility, the Sanger core will pause operations and will stop processing samples on March 31st while we work towards rebuilding the infrastructure.

Our goal is to ensure there is little disruption to your research needs so we are partnering with a commercial vendor,  Eton Bioscience, to offer a seamless solution.  Beginning March 23rd, the NGS core in MBB 3.210, will have an Eton drop box outside the lab available for all internal UT researchers to submit samples. If you are an external user, please work directly with Eton Bioscience.  Samples submitted by 3pm will be shipped out same-day by the NGS core. This daily deadline might be extended once we have a better idea of the FedEx schedules.

Eton has provided a quote for our Sanger community so please be sure to use quote #10334 when you are submitting samples through their website. The pricing information is attached, along with ordering instructions and sample preparation guidelines.  Please read the sample preparation guidelines thoroughly.

Eton will bill CBRS for all sequencing and fragment analysis charges and then CBRS will bill individual labs for their charges.   A detailed billing process will be sent out separately.

I appreciate your understanding if you have received this email multiple times, and please be sure to share this information with fellow lab members.  Thank you all for the continued support and understanding while we navigate these challenging times.

Please note: If you are interested in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) services, please contact our Genomic Sequencing and Analysis Facility at gsaf@utgsaf.org or 512-475-9725.  They also have a Wiki site.
