Overview:

To share college-specific information regarding flexible work arrangements and telework, along with additional resources and links.

Relevant Definitions:

FWA: Flexible Work Arrangement; for the purposes of this page, an annual proposal to allow a COLA staff member to request a change to their regularly scheduled work hours, or to request one or more days of their regular work schedule in a location other than campus; specific restrictions and provisions may be found in the current remote work guidance.

Telework: Routinely working one or more days per week at a location that is not the regularly assigned place of employment.

Process:

  1. Review the college's remote work guidance here.
  2. Each staff member who is eligible and would like to request an FWA must complete the FWA Request Form and FWA Expectations form (linked below).
    1. Requests to work remotely more than 2 days per week must also be signed by the COLA HR Director.
    2. Requests to work outside of Texas must receive prior approval by COLA HR, Dean Stevens, and the Out of State Committee, with possible additional levels of approval.
  3. Save forms using the following naming convention:
    1. FWA Request_YY-YY_DEPT_eid_Name
    2. FWA Expectations_YY-YY_DEPT_eid_Name
  4. Submit completed forms to the Dean's Office here.
  5. FWAs, once approved, must be re-approved on an annual basis. Best practice is to complete these with the annual appraisal.
