These labels are put in the drawer to indicate a specimen is in a different location, but not off-campus1, for a short period of time. Pulling specimens for photography, conservation or preparation are examples of when these labels are used. Also, there are times when a researcher wants to see 15 examples of a species in order to choose which 3 they want to borrow for study. These Temporarily Moved labels are used in that case, too.

1 if a specimen is to be at any building other than NPL 122 or NPL 33, a loan label will be used. This way, we always know any specimen with a "temporarily moved" label  is in one of our buildings.

These labels are 2 part labels. The left half is put in the tray with the specimen. This makes for quick and easy to re-shelving. The right side is to be left in the drawer. When the specimen is put back, these labels are pulled out, stapled together and given to the Collection Manager.

Older 'Moved' labels

Strictly speaking, prior to 2013 there was no specific label to indicate a temporary move. Research on Campus labels, printed on yellow paper, were used when visiting scientists conducted their research at the main NPL building. The 'Moved' labels were used to show a permanent move, and are therefore not part of the 'temporary label' family.
