Undergraduate Admissions Updates

Prospective Student Virtual Information Sessions

In accordance with Coronavirus (COVID-19) recommendations from public health officials, The University of Texas at Austin has suspended campus visits and in-person events until further notice. For updates and guidance from the university related to COVID-19, visit utexas.edu/coronavirus.

As we adapt to this evolving situation, please consider joining us for a College of Fine Arts Virtual Information Session. These virtual sessions will be held Fridays at 1:00 p.m. (CST) for prospective students. Please register online to attend a session. If you are interested in attending a Virtual University of Texas at Austin Information Session, you can register online.

If you are unable to attend one of these Virtual Information Sessions, please consider emailing us with any inquiries or request an appointment (to be held over the phone or video chat).

Tip: Conversations with fine arts admissions staff are not interviews and do not impact admissions decisions.

Be a Longhorn: Texas Admissions is another great way to see some of the University campus! The short video series, Lights, Camera, Longhorns, follows UT students through various parts of campus and experiences in Austin. Check it out!

Department of Theatre and Dance Scholarship Inquiries

If you have questions regarding departmental scholarship opportunities or procedures, please contact Natasha Small at nlsmall@austin.utexas.edu.

The internal scholarship application for undergraduate students will be emailed to students on April 1, 2020. Applicants should complete the form electronically and email their completed application to Natasha Small at nlsmall@austin.utexas.edu by 5:00p.m. on April 22, 2020.

Student Resources

Facilities and Use & Access of Theatre and Dance Facilities

All COFA buildings (DFA, WIN, ART, MRE, MRH, PAC) are closed to the public during this time. All faculty and staff, with a very few exceptions, are working remotely during this time. Student access to buildings is restricted until further notice, per your department policies. Faculty and staff may access the buildings using their UT ID cards with the BAC system at the building’s celebrated entrance. The Winship celebrated entrance is the main entrance to the building. Note: no one is to linger in the building at any time.

Undergraduate student access to all UT Austin buildings (other than their residential facilities) has been restricted.

Event & Facility Reservations

All reservations in the Winship and Laboratory Theatre have been suspended through the end of the summer.

Accessing Winship or the Laboratory Theatre

If you require access to the Winship or Laboratory Theatre to collect personal belongings or for any other reason during the campus closure, please email Nathan Harper, Assistant Operations Manager, at Nathan.Harper@austin.utexas.edu for more information.

All access should be through the celebrated entrance (the main entrance) of either building.  Upon entry, please sign in on the provided sign in sheet and remember to sign out upon your departure. More information about either building's entrances can be found here.

Renovation & Construction Projects

All construction and renovation in the Winship and Laboratory buildings is on hold until further notice.  Updates on projects will be posted here for reference:

Monday, April 27 - Wendesday, April 29:
There will be active construction in the atrium of Winship to complete the construction on the ADA ramp.

Mail

Do not have mail sent to your University address. The University has given permission to ship pro-card purchases to personal residences. Incoming mail will be delivered to Document Solutions where a representative from COFA will retrieve every Friday afternoon. One of the main office staff members will arrange to pick up the mail and place it in your mailbox on the Monday or Tuesday following.

Keys

No keys will be issued during this time. Information on how to return your keys will be coming soon. Please check this page for key return updates.

Graduate students that will be graduating this Spring or Summer have been sent instructions on how to return your keys.  Please refer to that email or contact Nathan Harper at Nathan.Harper@austin.utexas.edu with any questions.

ITS Assistance & Technology Needs

COFA ITS is still monitoring tickets.  Please submit a ticket through the main IT website (https://ut.service-now.com/sp) or by emailing help@utexas.edu.

COFA has been working to acquire equipment to help instructors with online teaching needs beyond their computer camera and microphone. If you find you need additional equipment needs for online instruction, please fill out the Technology Needs for Online Instruction Survey. Selections are not guaranteed but COFA ITS is making every effort to get the equipment people need. Please note that product availability, limited staff resources and delivery service delays will play a part in this process.

Printing & Making Copies

Faculty that need to print can use the Ricoh Printer located in the Faculty/Staff Mail Room.  Please contact Nathan Harper (Nathan.Harper@austin.utexas.edu) before coming in to make copies and remember to sign in and out.  If you have questions regarding how to make copies or have issues when you're using the printer, please contact Tori Marshall at (Victoria.Marshall@austin.utexas.edu).
