Since 1969, The University of Texa= s at Austin has prepared biomedical engineers to take positions within acad= emia, the health care field, government, and industry. The Department of Bi= omedical Engineering=E2=80=99s nationally recognized faculty are developing= or have already attained leading positions in areas such as treatment of c= ancer, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, multiple sclerosis, osteoporosis,= orthopedic disorders, and eye diseases, as well as in the fields of tissue= replacement, imaging and diagnostics, biomaterials, drug delivery, bioinfo= rmatics, and systems biology.
With an accomplished faculty and diverse student body, the Department of= Biomedical Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin offers opportu= nities for students to grow and build interdisciplinary knowledge in the ar= eas of medicine, molecular and cellular biology, and engineering. The depar= tment has over 50 Graduate Studies Committee program faculty working in div= erse areas of biomedical engineering and related areas.
