| Terry joined the GSAF in August of 2012. Prior to joining the group, Terry had worked for five years as a research technician and lab manager at UT in the College of Natural Sciences and Department of Integrative Biology studying the physiological relationships between migration and reproduction in Melanoplus sanguinipes focusing on the juvenile hormone. Terry has over 37 years of work experience in various clinical, teaching, and academic research labs including Tift General Hospital, The University of Georgia, The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and UT Austin, in fields from human laboratory medicine, parasitology, veterinary surgery and anesthesiology, veterinary radiology, biochemistry and molecular biology, and insect physiology. She has also worked as a biological illustrator and graphic artist. Terry lives with her husband, Peter, and has four children. She enjoys spending time with her family, the symphony, chorale singing, reading, playing classical piano, hiking, gourmet cooking, tennis, and art. |

| Portia joined the GSAF team in September 2014. In addition to working with the GSAF, she has worked in the DNA Sequencing Facility at UT since June of 2013. She has a Bachelors of Science in Biology, a Bachelors of Art in English, and a minor in Chemistry from Concordia University. Portia is the Lab Manager of the DSF and is primarily responsible for day-to-day Sanger sequencing operations. |
