June 1, 20152016

June 5, 2015through
July 5, 2015

Mailbox backup (PST file) available for download by June 5. MSB Accounts will still be active so students can log on and download their PST files, but the MSB Accounts will no longer be able to send or receive new email. When the PST files are available for download, notification will be sent to students at the the email address they have set up to forward to. Students who have not set up forwarding will not receive this notification.

July 5, 2015

MSB Accounts are deleted, and Mailbox backup (PST file) is no longer available.  If you have not downloaded this file by this time, you have lost your McCombs email.

* You can forward your email at any time, but if you wait until after your account is deleted you will miss email sent between the account deletion and when forwarding takes effect. Mailboxes should be backed up before account deletion, or you'll have to wait until the PST file is posted.

Q. Why is my McCombs mailbox (and My Site, etc.) getting deleted?

...

Q. What happens to my email when my mailbox gets deleted?

A. When your mailbox is deleted (see the table above for the approximate time) we will create a back-up of everything that is currently in your mailbox. So any email received in your mailbox before your account is deleted will be saved in this back-up. Your Contacts and Calendar items will also be included. You will need to grab this back-up and open it in Outlook if you want to see old email, your contacts, and your calendar.Mac users should not depend on the mailbox backup, and will need to forward any email they want to keep to an alternate email account. If you set up email forwarding, any email sent to your McCombs email address after your account is deleted will be automatically forwarded to your alternate email address. If you do not set up email forwarding, your emails will bounce back to the sender as undeliverable.

...

A. Many students use UTmail, provided by the University, which ends in @utexas.edu. This is a separate account from the McCombs email address that every McCombs student receives, which ends in @class.mccombs.utexas.edu, where class is your degree and year, such as @bba12.mccombs.utexas.edu (for BBAs, the year you started) or @mba14.mccombs.utexas.edu (the year you graduate). This email can be viewed from the Webmail link on the McCombs School of Business webpage or through Outlook.

A. WebSpace is a resource for web publishing and file storage provided by ITS. WebSpace is only available while you are an active student and will be disabled after you graduate. The official cutoff date is the 12th class date of the semester following your graduation (for spring graduates, this is the summer session). If you want to save anything from WebSpace, you should download it before the 12th class date of the following semester. For further questions, go to the ITS graduation website or contact the ITS Help Desk at 475-9400.

After Account Deletion

...

If you didn't set up lifetime email forwarding, messages sent to you after your account was deleted are bounced back to the sender. You can still set up lifetime email forwarding now so that you don't miss any more emails.Your entire mailbox, including emails received before your account was deleted, your calendar, and contacts has been backed up and will be available for you to download. This backup is only available for a short period of time. Check the table at the top of this page for the dates your mailbox backup is available. We have instructions for grabbing this mailbox copy on the Retrieve Email Backup page.
