When we mapped data for each species, it became apparent that some data sources seemed to be more prone to errors than others. In such cases, all records from that source became dubious. Rarely did we remove data from the database, opting usually to flag individual records as suspect. We did however decide on removal of some sets of data that were particularly problematic.


  • Records with localities containing “GUMO”, from the Guadalupe Mountains, provided by EPA were determined to be unreliable and deleted. This includes 265 records from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)


  • Records with collector “OWRB Streams Monitoring” from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) were removed. This includes 25,395 records.
