Production Attendance Policy

It is the policy of the Department of Theatre and Dance that our undergraduate majors attend department season productions and that this attendance is a part of the coursework for Theatre and Dance majors' classes.

All Theatre and Dance majors are required to attend a performance from each of the following productions:

FALL SEMESTER:

    • The Diary of Anne Frank, Oct. 8-18, 2015 at the Oscar G. Brockett Theatre
    • Fall For Dance, Nov. 12-15, 2015 at the B. Iden Payne Theatre
    • The Wild Party, Nov. 20-Dec. 5, 2015 at the Oscar G. Brockett Theatre

SPRING SEMESTER:

    • Twelfth Night, Feb. 26-Mar. 6 at the Oscar G. Brockett Theatre
    • Bodies & Souls, Apr. 8-17 at the B. Iden Payne Theatre
    • UTNT (UT New Theatre), Apr. 14-26 at the Oscar G. Brockett Theatre

How do I get a ticket? Can I see a show for free or at a discounted rate?

Invited Final Dress Rehearsal

This performance takes place the evening prior to opening night; curtain is typically at 7:30 p.m. There is no admission charge, and all Theatre and Dance majors are encouraged to attend. Invited Dress Rehearsals are not not open to the public, and seating is limited. A valid student ID may be required for admission.

Major's Pass

The major's pass has been discontinued effective fall of 2015 and has been replaced with the Major's Ticket Package.

Major's Ticket Package - Save 30%!

Available exclusively to Department of Theatre and Dance majors, the package provides six tickets to the 2015-2016 Theatre and Dance performances at a savings of 30% off student ticket prices. Best yet, the package allows majors to secure their ticket in advance of the performance and thereby guarantee their seat. Students may purchase the package on the department's TXShop Store.

The cost is $60 for the academic year.

For 2015-2016, the ticket packages may be used to order tickets for the following productions: The Diary of Anne Frank, The Wild Party, Fall For Dance, Twelfth Night, Bodies & Souls, and UTNT (UT New Theatre). Buy the package at any time online at the Theatre and Dance Store. The six tickets may be distributed in any combination the student chooses (i.e. three tickets to one show, two tickets to two shows, etc.).

How does the Major's Ticket Package Work?

Collect your Package Card

You may pick up your Major's Ticket Package Card at the F. Loren Winship Drama Building (Department of Theatre and Dance) Main Administrative Office 1.142 (M-F, 9am-4:30pm) beginning September 2, 2015. Please take your TXShop receipt along with your student ID to collect your Package Card. Directions to the F. Loren Winship Drama Building.

Review Performance Choices

The package provides six to Department of Theatre and Dance productions (see list above), distributed in any combination the student chooses (i.e. two tickets to one show, one ticket to two different shows). Review a list of shows online.

Get Tickets

To get tickets for your select show(s), simply take your Package Card to the Box Office in advance of the show. This may be on the day of the show or earlier. Be mindful that shows may sell out. We encourage you to pick up your tickets early. There are two Box Office locations with the following hours:

Texas Performing Arts' Bass Concert Hall
Located on East 23rd Street and Robert Dedman Drive, just north of the Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on the UT Campus. Patrons purchasing tickets in person may park in the Bass Concert Hall plaza driveway.
Open Tuesday through Friday, 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. inside the Bass Concert Hall lobby.

F. Loren Winship Drama Building Box Office

Located at East 23rd Street and San Jacinto Boulevard on the UT Campus.
Open one hour prior to each performance.

How is my attendance verified?

The specific way(s) in which attendance is verified and the impact on students' grades is up to each instructor to determine and will be articulated in syllabi. Proof of Attendance Receipts have been discontinued effective fall 2015.
