There are 24 credit hours of technical coursework required for the M.S. with Thesis, as well as 6 thesis hours for a total of 30 credit hours. Six of the 24 technical coursework hours can be either graduate-level for credit/no credit or upper division level for a letter grade.

Five of the six required graduate-level courses (three credits each, 15 credits out of 18 total) must be:

  • A graduate-level course in biological or clinical sciences
  • A graduate-level course in basic or applied math, or statistics
  • Graduate-level courses in three of the following:

    ○      Technical Area 2 (biomaterials, tissue engineering, drug delivery)

    ○      Technical Area 3 (modeling, informatics)

    ○      Technical Area 4 (biomechanics)

    ○      Technical Area 1 (imaging, instrumentation)

In addition, six hours of thesis are required.
