LAITS will continue to handle bulk computer purchases on a yearly basis as part of the Generations program, however, purchasing computers between cycles will now be the responsibility of Departmental Administrative staff. In an attempt to make the transition easier we have created a step-by-step guide for the Administrative Staff who will now be responsible for these purchases. It will be important to follow the directions to ensure your order is accurate and meets the LAITS minimum required specifications. Lets get Started... 

Ordering Apple Products 

Apple products can be purchased directly from the Campus Computer Store but to get the correct models at the lowest price, the recommendation is to login to the Apple Store E-Commerce Website. If you have not used the Apple Store for Education Institution website to purchase apple products, you will need to create an account. This step requires an @austin.utexas.edu email address to create an AppleID.

Once and account has been created, you will have access to Campus Computer Store Hi Ed. This will give more options than the Campus Computer Store public website and provide more models and better pricing. With so many options on models and specifications, finding the correct combination can get very confusing. We recommend ordering Apple products by part number. This process is covered in detail on the Ordering Apple Products guide. By ordering in this way, you can rest assured that the correct Recommended Apple Products will be ordered for your faculty/staff member. 

Ordering Dell Products 

Dell products will continue to be purchased through UT Market on the Dell punch out. To order Dell products, the purchaser will first need to login to UT Market, then select the Dell punch out. Once logged in, the purchaser can select from our Recommended Dell Products to add items to their cart. By clicking on picture of the item, the purchaser will be linked directly to the correct specification of that model. Simply add the item to your cart and follow the directions to complete the order. 

Completing the Order

Both Apple and Dell Products require the same process to complete the order in UT Market. 

 

Admin does the purchase, ship to LAITS, we'll prepare and deploy. 

Ship to MEZ information.

As soon as a purchase order number has been issued with delivery to MEZ 2.302, please click Click here to report a purchase and answer few questions relating to the purchase so that LAITS Computer Support staff may track the order and receive it efficiently. Once received, LAITS will tag and record the computer in inventory, image it, and schedule a deployment with the user.
