BME PhD students are guaranteed a minimum stipend ($26,000 as of Fall 2017), tuition, and insurance coverage for the duration of their program as long as they are making progress towards their degree as determined by their faculty supervisor and the Graduate Studies Committee.
The minimum stipend is provided through one or more of the following:
- Teaching Assistant (TA) appointment (1 or 2 semesters required, depending on semester of entry to the program)
- Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) appointment
- Fellowships
Continuing student fellowship nominations happen in May of each year, after recruitment fellowships have been awarded.
