Maintenance & Support

I had trouble obtaining support from Genband (see issues and resolutions below.)  The support site requires a request for access from the vendor.  Once granted, the support pages offer support on products only from a search that produces a dropdown menu.  No permutations of the product name would reveal support pages for it. Entering only Genband offered Genband Genius and

Integration Consideration (ex. Outlook)

I chose to integrate with Outlook upon installation.  You will see that add-in via the Add-Ins manager for Outlook

Issues & Resolutions

I had a major issue with this product working properly.  I initially installed it with no problems.  Then I decided to document for this Wiki.  I uninstalled and rebooted, and began the reinstallation which is documented above.  Upon completion I attempted to resume my normal work by launching Outlook.  Outlook failed to launch with the generic error of “Unable to start Outlook”, tried again same result.  Rebooted the system.  Launched outlook again, same result.  Attempted to open the mail control panel from which a repair of Outlook can be done.  That control panel would not open with the error message of “There are not enough system resources to proceed-try closing some windows and try again.”  I scoured the Event logs for some clues and found none.  I uninstalled Office 2010, rebooted, and re-installed Office 2010.  Same result with opening Outlook and the Mail control panel.  Other Office programs and control panel windows opened normally.  In frustration, and needing to proceed with my normal workload, I performed a system restore back to the evening before when Genband was operating properly.  That worked and I could use Outlook again.

I just performed another uninstallation of Genband Personal Communicator.  This was successful and no problems found.  What did I do differently?  I disabled the Genband PC Outlook Add-in before uninstalling.

I will test again on a test computer and repost results.
