Style Guides

Requesting Design Projects

The UGS design team in the Dean’s Office is available to design any promotional materials your office needs, following the UGS design guidelines. Examples include posters, programs, brochures, flyers, emails, T-shirts, and easels. All materials will be designed within the UGS visual brand, maintaining elements critical to the school's overall look and feel. We will work with you on the design, photos, and content.

Working on your own design? Thinking of new project ideas? Please review UGS design guidelines and view examples of UGS print pieces. Materials must be approved by Lara Harlan; please submit your piece for approval.

Trademarks & Licensing

The university requires us to submit all of our designs to the Trademarks & Licensing office. T-shirts and other non-paper items with the UT word mark must be approved before they are printed. Once you have a final design file, submit the Students & Internal Requests form with a design to trademarks@athletics.utexas.edu. Please allow five business days. Find out more about trademark policy

Requesting a Video

The UGS communications team in the Dean's Office may be available to film video projects for you. Our team will evaluate each request and determine if a video can be made based on timing, our schedule, the depth of the project, etc. If we determine that we can make a video, someone from the communications team will contact you to set up a meeting to discuss the finer details.

Updating the Website

For questions about UGS web style guidelines and Drupal quirks, please email Drupal admin.

Social Media Efforts

Twitter

The communications team manages the School of Undergraduate Studies and Wayfinder Twitter accounts. Our design team creates UGS-branded Twitter backgrounds and profile pictures. Submit a design request if you're starting a new Twitter account and are in need of materials. If you have questions about starting or maintaining a Twitter account, email the communications team.

Facebook

The communications team manages the School of Undergraduate Studies, Sanger Learning Center, Freshman Reading Round-Up, and Wayfinder Facebook accounts. Submit a design request if you would like our team to create shareable graphics, cover photos, or profile pictures for your program's Facebook account. If you have questions about starting or maintaining a Facebook account, email the communications team.

Blogs

UGS blogs use the "Cutline" Wordpress theme. Blogs should be updated weekly with new posts. If your office would like to create a new blog, email the communications team. We will request the blog URL and create a photo banner consistent with other UGS blogs.

Photo Release Form

The university has a standard Talent Release Form. If you are taking photos or videos of students, you should ask them to sign this. The form documents a subject’s agreement to let you record him or her, and also approves the use, exhibition, or distribution of the photos or video. It will clarify the fact that they are giving you permission to use the images on future promotional materials or a website, for example.
