When connecting to the Linux Application Servers via a PC running Windows and want to utilize a graphical interface, the PC will need to interace with the server through the X-windows system, forwarding the display from the server to the PC. Software (X server) must be installed and be running on a PC to make this work, alongside an SSH client (PuTTY).
PuTTy can be downloaded from http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/putty/download.html
Xming can be downloaded from http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading.php?group_id=156984&filename=Xming-6-9-0-31-setup.exe
Once PuTTy and Xming have been downloaded to the PC, install according to their respective instructions.
1. Locate the downloaded Xming installer, double-click to open it, and follow the on-screen instructions
2. The default installation path is suitable. Click Next
3. In the Components section, please select Full installation from the drop down box and click Next
4. Create a shortcut in the Start menu and then click Next
5. Although optional, it is recommended to Create a desktop icon for Xming on your Desktop and/or Quick Launch location
6. Click on the Install box in the Ready to Install screen
7. Click on the Finish box in the Completing the Xming Setup Wizard screen
