It is the policy of the Department of Theatre and Dance that our majors attend department season productions and that this attendance is a part of the coursework for our majors' classes. Attendance will be tracked and recorded by way of Proof of Attendance Receipts and made available to instructors for grading purposes.

All Theatre and Dance majors are required to attend a performance from each of the following productions:

How do I get a ticket? Can I see a show for free or at a discounted rate?

Invited Final Dress Rehearsal

This performance takes place the evening prior to opening night; curtain is typically at 8 p.m. There is no admission charge, and all Theatre and Dance majors are encouraged to attend. Invited Dress Rehearsals are not not open to the public, and seating is limited. A Major's Pass and valid student ID may be required for admission.

Major's Pass

This pass allows Theatre and Dance majors to purchase unsold seats on a first come, first served basis for a discounted rate of $5. Discounted tickets may be purchased at the Winship Box Office five minutes before curtain, but the line to purchase this ticket begins forming as early as an hour before the performance begins. A Major’s Pass and valid student ID are required, and all Major's Pass sales are cash only.

The box office staff will make every effort to accommodate students with this pass, but your admission is not guaranteed. The Major's Pass is similar to flying ‘stand by’ on an airplane. If a show is sold out, Major’s Pass holders cannot be accommodated. If you need assurance regarding admission to a particular performance, it is recommended you buy your ticket in advance (see Student Tickets below). The performances where you will have the best chance at obtaining a Major's Pass are typically Wednesday evenings and Saturday matinees, whereas opening nights, Sunday matinees, and the final weekend performances often sell out, leaving little to no room for Major's Pass seating.

Student Tickets

You may purchase tickets to any performance for $15 by presenting a valid student ID at time of purchase. Visit our ticketing page for purchasing options. Note that tickets purchased online or by phone are subject to processing fees.

Student Ticket Packages – Save 30% off Student Ticket Rate

You have the option to purchase this package when registering for classes or at any time through the Cashier's Office. The cost is $45.00 when purchased in the fall or $22.50 when purchased for only the spring semester. The full year package provides four tickets to Department of Theatre and Dance productions and the spring package provides two tickets to Department of Theatre and Dance productions. These tickets may be distributed in any combination the you choose (i.e. all tickets for one production, a few for several productions, one per production, etc.). Learn more about the Student Ticket Package.

After I see a show, what are my next steps?

Immediately after seeing a performance, you need to see a Front of House manager or usher in the theatre lobby to obtain a Proof of Attendance Receipt that includes the title of the production, date of the performance, and space for your name. Write your name legibly on the receipt and submit it to the drop box in The Winship Main Office (WIN 1.142). Proof of Attendance Receipts are not available at any time other than immediately following the performance you attended and will not be accepted after the deadlines listed at the top of this page.
