If you need to check out a laptop for work purposes, email oa.lan@austin.utexas.edu with the request.  To assist us in getting the laptop ready for you to use, please provide the following information:

  1. Date and time you would like to check it out.  If your meeting is before 10am, we recommend picking up the laptop the day prior.
  2. Whether you will need to use Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) over Virtual Private Network (VPN) to access your work desktop computer while you are using it.
  3. The expected return date.

NOTE:  You will need to allow time to log into the laptop while it is set up here in the LAN offices.  The laptop must be plugged into the network wire the first time you login with your EID.  After the initial time, you will be able to login over WiFi.

Please note that loaner laptops are a resources to be shared between all employees of the CFO departments, so please return them in a timely manner.

If you require a loaner laptop for over 30 days, you will need to provide your manager's approval.  In addition, all loaner laptops must be returned to the LAN team every 30 days to receive Windows, Office and third party application updates.  You may then check out the laptop again.

While you are in possession of the loaner laptop, you are responsible for its physical security.  Remember to keep it locked in a secure area while you have it checked out.

Finally, when you are done using the laptop, please log off and shut it down.  This will preserve the battery life for the next user.
