FIRST - Ensure your computer is on a campus network or connected via the VPN

1. Go to Simio and register to download the free Personal Edition of their software: https://www.simio.com/download/simio.php

2. Extract the setup files from the zip file and run the installer.

4. When you launch Simio for the first time you will see a message informing you it has not yet been licensed and so will limit the size of your projects until it has been licensed.

5. Click "OK" to dismiss this window and then click the "Enter your license key.." hyperlink in the upper right corner of the Simio application window.

6. Depending on whether or not Simio was previously configured on your computer, you will see a Window similar to one of the following. In either case, select the option to change the license type.

7. When prompted for the type of license key, select "Server-Based Floating License"

8. If you then see the following Window, click Configure.

9. Ensure the Floating License Database Type is set to MS-SQLand enter "Data Source=msbsqlc.austin.utexas.edu;Initial Catalog=qlmFloating" as the Floating License Location, then click Register. You should see a message telling you if you successfully registered your computer or not.

10. Simio is now licensed and ready for you to use it. From now on whenever you launch Simio you should see a message similar to the following as long as Simio is able to reach the licensing server.

11. The licensing server is accessible from all campus wired and wireless networks, but from off campus you will need to connect in through the UT VPN system first. If you see the message telling you that no license key was found when you launch Simio, it most likely means your networking is disabled or you are on a a non-campus network and need to establish a VPN connection to reach the licensing server.
