Welcome

ArcGIS Online or AGOL is a web-based, map centric content management portal that allows users to collect, create, share, and store many common types of GIS content associated with ArcGIS such as web services, web applications, map documents, layer files, layer packages, geoprocessing packages, and shapefiles. AGOL provides the frame work for management of GIS content and promotes collaboration between staff within an organization in a secure environment.

AGOL has been used to create content accessed throughout the University of Texas at Austin community.

Access

Supervisors should send a access request email to TRecs Location Information Services to be granted access to AGOL thru either a shared or unique credential. Include a short explanation of the desired use and users first name, last name, EID, and email. AGOL shared or unique credentials will be shared on Stache

All new AGOL users are either given the role of Viewer or User depending on the original access request email sent by the users supervisor. For more information on roles visit What are Roles? under the FAQs.

If a user wishes to change to a Publisher role  that user and their supervisor should review the Publishing Polices for information on training requirements, cost, and standards. The supervisors should then send a Role Change Request email TRecs Location Information Services to request the role change to AGOL. Include a short explanation of the reason for the request and user name receiving the role change. Once the user is giving the Publisher role they should abide by the training requirement and standards of TRecs Location Information Services.
