Install the Software


Install OBS Virtual Camera

When asked how many virtual cameras to install, choose 1


Restart OBS


Create 3 Scenes

Scene 1 - Your Webcam

In the Scene Panel, click + to make a new scene.

Name this scene "Me Full Screen"


Now we're going to add 3 sources - the webcam, a white background, and a logo
In the source panel, click + > Color Source > white background

In the source panel, click + > Video Capture Device > webcam

Click Ok.

You can move and resize your image wherever you'd like it to be.

Right click on your image and choose filters. In the filter panel, click + and add a chroma key filter. Adjust the settings as required to cut you out from your green background.


In the source panel, click + > Image and then browse to a logo file.

You can move and resize the logo wherever you'd like it to be.

You can crop your logo by holding down ALT while dragging the edges.


Scene 2 - Your Shared Computer Display

In the Scene Panel, click + to make a new scene.

Name this scene "Laptop Full Screen"


In the source panel, click + > Display Capture

choose the computer monitor you want to share with students



Scene 3 - Your Webcam over the Shared Computer Display

In the Scene Panel, click + to make a new scene.

Name this scene "Me Over Laptop"


Copy (ctrl-c) & paste (ctrl-v) the laptop element from scene "Laptop Full Screen" you created above

Copy (ctrl-c) & paste (ctrl-v) the webcam element from scene "Me Full Screen" you created above


Go Live

Whenever you start OBS, click Tools > VirtualCam to turn on the output from OBS to other apps on your computer

Set Target Camera to "OBS-Camera"

Click Start

Click X to close the window

In your streaming app (zoom, skype, teams, etc) set your webcam source to be OBS-Camera

In Zoom > click on your image in the top right > Settings > Video

Set Camera to "OBS-Camera"
