Typeface: Screenplays always use the old fashioned typewriter font called 12pt Courier. The industry has never moved away from this because one page in this format runs approximately one minute on screen.

Scene heading: Each scene begins with a flush left capitalized setting that lists:

  • 1) Number of the scene (note: scene numbers are typically used only in shooting scripts, not in initial drafts)
  • 2) Interior or exterior (expressed as INT. or EXT.)
  • 3) Location
  • 4) Time of day or night
  • 5) Main Characters involved
