It is customary that Sophomores and Juniors serve as Area Leads. During an Area leads' junior year, it is up to them to identify somebody to take over after them.
During this time, the current area lead will "train" the prospective area lead(s) so the transition of power is collaborative and seamless.
Once the current area lead steps down, they are to serve as a "senior staff member" where they can attend leads meetings and help make executive suggestions and improvements to make the space run smoothly.
