Autodesk Netfabb is available to students under an educational license. This PC-only software is used for repairing STL models before 3D printing.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Visit https://www.autodesk.com/education/free-software
  2. Log into your free Autodesk educational account
    1. If you don't already have an account, you must create one
    2. You may need to set up an authentication app – DUO can be used for this purpose
  3. Navigate to Netfabb Premium
  4. Click "Get license"
    1. The serial information will be e-mailed to you
  5. Download the installer
  6. Launch the installer
    1. Check "I agree" & Click "Next" 
    2. Click "Install"
    3. Click "Start"
  7. Click "I Agree"
  8. Click "Activate"
  9. Enter your serial number (this was e-mailed to you from Autodesk earlier in the process)
  10. Click "Next"
  11. Sign into your Autodesk account
  12. Use DUO to generate a key for Autodesk
  13. Click "Finish"
  14. We recommend unchecking the two boxes here
