The first word of the credit line is capitalized; names of people, foundations, businesses, etc. are capitalized, other words are not. For example, “in memory of” is not capitalized.
The accession number is part of the credit line and follows the text of the credit line.
For example, “Blanton Museum of Art, The University of Texas at Austin, Purchase through the generosity of an anonymous donor, 2021.20”
If it is a donation of the artist, the credit line is “Blanton Museum of Art, The University of Texas at Austin, Gift of the artist, 20XX.#”
Only registrars have permission to update a credit line as it must be verified with donors and development.
