Every teacher with a PDS student placement should receive a placement confirmation letter. Teachers should not be surprised by the student's arrival. They should also receive a visit before the students arrive in their classrooms. Please send your field supervisors if you aren’t able to meet with each teacher directly.

Before students arrive in their classrooms, teachers should have written expectations of their roles and responsibilities, as well as what their students will be expected to do. Please stay in close communication with all of your cooperating teachers.

Below is the confirmation letter template to use for your Interns and Student Teachers.  Letters should not be sent until placements have been confirmed with the districts.  If you have any questions about to which teachers you may send confirmation letters, please contact fieldexp@austin.utexas.edu .

Additionally, campus principals also need to be notified of all placements in their school and that copies of the observation forms are on file with the CTs and are available to them for viewing.
