Graduating - Doctoral Candidates:

If you intend to complete your doctoral degree this semester, you must apply to graduate through the Graduate School online application
by April 12, 2024.

You must be registered for C E x99W – DISSERTATION (3, 6, or 9 hours). A minimum of 6 hours CE X99W Dissertation is required in order to apply for graduation.

Graduating students MUST submit their Graduation Application online no later than April 12, 2024. Students who do not submit a Doctoral Degree Candidate Form by this date will not be eligible to receive their degree this semester.

Graduating students should circulate a draft of the dissertation to their committee about 1 month prior to the final defense meeting.
 

IMPORTANT!: The Request for Final Oral must be submitted to the Graduate School at least 2 weeks in advance of the defense.  Request_Final_Oral_Exam.pdf

Please note Docusign is not routed to the Graduate School, and you will need to email them the PDF of the completed form in order to schedule your defense: GradStudentSvcs@austin.utexas.edu 

Target deadline for requesting a final oral exam or dissertation defense: April 2, 2024
Last day to hold a dissertation defense: April 12, 2024


The Graduate School will acknowledge the date of the defense, and will follow up with an email including the final committee signature page, also known as The Report of the Dissertation Committee. 
 
All required forms and dissertation upload MUST be submitted to the Graduate School by April 26, 2024 for graduation.

International Students: if you are graduating at the end of the spring semester, you may choose to waive enrollment in the summer student health insurance plan coverage using the Spring Graduate Insurance Waiver (PDF) request form.
