Email Notifications Settings

Box allows you to set email notifications when actions have been performed within a Box folder that you are either a collaborator or owner of.  Settings can be applied within your Box profile so that all Box folders will inherit the default notification settings.  Additionally, Box allows you to override the default settings by allowing custom notifications to be applied per specific Box folder. 

Account-wide (default) Folder Settings


Sign in to the Box web portal with your UT EID: https://utexas.box.com




At the top right corner, select your account, then Account Settings









Select the Sharing tab, then under the Email Notifications section, set your preferred email notifications.


Save your changes at the top of the page.






Folder Specific Email Settings

When email notifications are applied within a specific folder, it will become the default email notification for all files and folder within this specific Box folder.  Changing the email notifications settings for a specific Box folder will not impact any other Box folder.  The default Box settings configured above will continue to be enabled for all other Box folders not individually altered following the steps below.

In the Box web portal, navigate to a Box folder. Within the Box folder, click on the (...) then Settings















Scroll down to the Email and Notifications section. Select Override default settings for this folder...and select your preferred email notifications for this specific folder.



Save your changes at the top of the page.
