Flex files interconnect timecode with keycode

That is all I got. Help me fill this in.

According to Mamer:

A Flex File is a data/text file that logs the beginning and the ending time code numbers of the shots and interrelates the edge numbers of film with the time code of the transferred videotape.
They have two purposes:
1) they are used to drive the capture of clips
2) they supply the information to build the database that will be used to create a negative cut list for matchback or re-transfer

All of this can be accomplished without a flex file, but it is much more difficult. The flex file eliminates the possibility of human errors in data entry.
