• *Phase Cancellation:* We typically have phase issues when two or more mics are going to the same channel. If they pick up the same sound at slightly different times, they can create a signal that is out of phase. One of the mics receives the sound when the wave is going up, the other is receiving it when the wave is going down. Some or all of the sound is cancelled.
  • *The 3-1 Rule:* No two mics should be closer together than three times the distance between them and the subject.
