• The film editor is one of the few people working on the production of a film who does not know the exact conditions under which it was shot (or has the ability to know) and who can at the same time have a tremendous influence on the film.

Those involved with the actual filming of a shot will have a sort of biased mindset because they bring more consideration than simply how the shot looks on the screen. The conditions of shooting should have no influence on deciding whether or not a shot should be used. The audience has no knowledge outside of what ends up on the screen, and while editing one should use the same mindset. It might even be useful for a director to take a vacation and try to do all he can to forget about the shooting of the film before editing begins, so he is unbiased.
