Department Resources
- Wiki: Contains information on many department resources i.e. room reservations
- Flat Screens: Run ads on screens in the Payne Lobby and atrium
- Submit through “Event Submission Form” online.
- Social Media: Share your event info on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram
- Submit through “Event Submission Form” as well.
- Poster/Flyer Display: Display poster on board outside main office. Drop off your poster at front desk in the main office for approval.
- Post your collateral freely throughout the rest of the building. Please be considerate of other’s materials and/or purpose of board.
Promoting an Event on Campus
Suggested Marketing Timeline:
- Prior to a month before:
- Create marketing materials
- Marketing strategy (i.e. meme theme)
- Event description (and/or press release)
- Event images- web images, press images, posters/flyer, slides
- A month before:
- Create Facebook event
- Submit slides to campus flat screens (see list below)
- For external audiences- submit to local calendars
- Within that month:
- Reach out to interested parties
- Student groups, professors, external groups
- Every week before:
- Post quality content- engage your audience!
- 2-3 weeks before:
- Submit info/slide to “Event Submission Form”
- Send your press release to the Daily Texan
- Distribute collateral (around campus and in building)
- 1 week before
- Ramp up creative content
- Email event info/press release to undergrad/grad listservs
Reaching out to the community
- Post your flyers at theatres, coffee shops, etc.
- Submit to local online event calendars (see list below)
- Reach out to interested parties
- Local high school theatre departments

Tips
- Quality over quantity: Limit posts in FB event to avoid notification fatigue.
- Hook ‘em: Make the first couple of words captivating to get people to read their notification
- Vary your content: Behind the scenes, brief descriptions, quotes, photos
