Submission Instructions

Step 1: Review the EDP Merit Review Criteria

Step 2: Complete your  FAR

  • For 2021 Review: AY 2020-21 up to 8/31/2021
  • See FAR How-To for help/instructions

Step 3:  Upload the following documents:

  • Updated CV
  • Completed Merit Self-Review (optional but recommended) with any comments you deem relevant to understanding your accomplishments.

Note: Merit Grids No Longer in Use

Merit Grid has been replaced by the Faculty Activity Report (FAR), effective 2019.

Required Materials

  • Updated CV
  • Completed FAR - Faculty Activity Report
  • Merit Self-Review (recommended, not required)

Review Process

  1. Faculty submit review materials (excluding 1st-year faculty)
  2. Committee Chairs meet
  3. Review Committees meet
  4. Merit Reviews Due
  5. Final Review Committee Chairs meeting (w/Dept Chair)
  6. Individual faculty meetings with Dept Chair (except 1st-year, Comprehensive, or Mid-Probationary)
  7. 1st-Year merit materials due
  8. Budget Council meets to vote on which faculty will go up for promotion, discuss any unsatisfactory reviews.
  9. Reviews of 1st-year faculty
  10. Dept Chair meets with 1st-year, Mid-Probationary, & Comprehensive Post-Tenure faculty
  11. Teaching Observation Reports completed & submitted to Dept Chair

Dates & Deadlines - 2021 Review

  • October 25 – Merit, Comprehensive Post-Tenure, Mid-Rank (Associate) Reviews and Mid-Probationary materials due
    Note: to be eligible for a merit raise, review materials must be submitted by this deadline.
  • October 25 – Committee Chairs Meeting
  • October 25 – November 29 – Review committees meet & complete reviews
  • November 30 – Completed Merit Reviews Due
    Final review committee meeting (Committee Chairs + Dept. Chair)
  • December 6 – December 13 – Individual faculty meetings with Dept. Chair
    All TT and NTT faculty, unless they’re a 1st-year faculty or received a Comprehensive or Mid-Probationary review.
  • February 1 – Deadline to invoke right of consideration, Comprehensive Post-Tenure and Mid-Probationary Reviews Due and 1st Year Faculty Merit Materials Due
  • February (1st week) – Budget Council Meeting to vote on which faculty will go up for promotion, and will discuss any unsatisfactory Comprehensive or Mid-Probationary reviews
  • February 1 – 28 – Reviews of 1st Year Faculty
  • March 1 – 15 – Department Chair Meetings with 1st Year Faculty, Mid-Probationary Faculty, and Comprehensive Post-Tenure Faculty
  • May 1 – Teaching Observation Reports Completed & Submitted to Department Chair
