  • Distinguish objective physical sound and subjective psychoacoustics. For us to hear a sound, two things must happen
    • The sound is generated and the objective worlds acts on it
    • That world is represented inside our minds by the processes of hearing and perception
    • Important because with a sound for film or television, we need to know if there is a physical problem with a physical solution, or does the problem require an adjustment to accommodate human listening

*Subjective sound* is sound that the character hears inside their minds. It is personal
*Objective sound* is sound that the physical world inside the film generates. it is literal.
