LAITS will continue to handle Computer Support handles bulk computer purchases on a yearly basis as part of the Generations program, however , purchasing computers between cycles will now be smaller and individual purchases are the responsibility of Departmental Administrative staff. In an attempt to make the transition easier we have created the departmental administrative staff.  Below is a step-by-step guide for the Administrative Staff who will now be responsible the administrative staff to follow for these purchases.  It will be is important to follow the these directions to ensure your order is accurate and meets the required LAITS minimum required computer specifications. Lets Let's get Startedstarted... 

Ordering Apple Products 

Apple products can be are purchased directly from through the Campus Computer Store but to via UT Market, but should first be configured on a separate Apple Store E-Commerce site for Education Institutions. To get the correct models at the lowest price, the recommendation is to login to the order your products by part number on the Apple Store E-Commerce Websitewebsite and then follow the process to copy your order into the Campus Computer Store on UT Market. If you have not previously used the Apple Store for Education Institution website E-Commerce to purchase apple Apple products, you will need to create an account. This step requires an @austin.utexas.edu email address to create an AppleID.a unique Apple ID, which requires a UT email address.

Then, log into the Apple Store E-Commerce, order computers by part number and copy the quoted Apple proposal into the Campus Computer Store on UT Market. Refer to our Ordering Apple Products and Recommended Apple Products guides for this process.Once and account has been created, you will have access to Campus Computer Store Hi Ed. This will give more options than the Campus Computer Store public website and provide more models and better pricing. With so many options on models and specifications, finding the correct combination can get very confusing. We recommend ordering Apple products by part number. This process is covered in detail on the Ordering Apple Products guide. By ordering in this way, you can rest assured that the correct Recommended Apple Products will be ordered for your faculty/staff member. 

Ordering Dell Products 

Dell products will continue to be are purchased through UT Market on via the Dell punch out. To order Dell products, the purchaser will first need to login to UT Market, then refer to our Ordering Dell Products guide. Log into UT Market and select the Dell (via Summus) punch out. Once logged in, the purchaser can select from our Then, select a computer from our Recommended Dell Products to page to add items to their cart. By clicking on picture of the item, the purchaser will be linked directly to the correct specification of that model. Simply add the item to your cart and follow the directions to complete the order. to items to your cart.

Completing the Order

Both Apple and Dell Products require purchases follow the same process to complete the order in UT Market.  

Admin does the purchase, ship to LAITS, we'll prepare and deploy.

Please pay careful attention to complete the field marked "Instructions for Buyer". The information you provide in that field will inform LAITS of the intended end user along with any special instructions relating to the purchaseAs soon as a purchase order number has been issued with delivery to MEZ 2.302, please click Click here to report a purchase and answer few questions relating to the purchase so that LAITS Computer Support staff may track the order and receive it efficiently. Once received, LAITS will tag and record the computer in inventory, image it, and schedule a deployment with the user.
