Go to the upper left and choose the correct drive to format

In this case we choose the 465.76 gig drive

>Right click the drive in the GParted editor and choose "Unmount"

Next right click and choose >Format to>ext2,ext3 or ext4

Next click the "green checkmark" to apply all operations

After the formatting which will take a little while
Now we have to give access to everyone

Select the drive in the sidebar to access the name of the drive that appears in the top of the "finder" window highlighted with the square in this frame grab

Right click the drive in the side bar to get the properties

Open terminal and type in
sudo chmod 777 and type in the following:
sudo chmod 777 /media/techstaff/dfa0fef4-oafa-427b-aab5-2d0f48a84a22
the the name of the drive after that of the above example.
This is shown here in the terminal example.

Or if the techstaff user account gets deleted you can use commpower

sudo chmod 777 /media/commpower/dfa0fef4-oafa-427b-aab5-2d0f48a84a22

the name of the drive NOTE THIS PICTURE IS WRONG DO NOT CAPITALIZE MEDIA  use media in the terminal command

Next go to the mount the fileserver to get your DCP off of temp_transfer if it was stored there so you could copy it to your EX2 formatted HD.

Go to the home page on the desktop and choose the file cabinet icon to open a new browser menu.

Next select the "Connect to Server"

type in smb://fileserver2.moody.utexas.edu

type in "Austin\EID" and Password

Once the "temp_transfer" server is mounted we can copy files off that server and on to the EX2 formatted HD
