Cooperating teachers and field supervisors of student teachers are required by State law to complete mentor training within the first three weeks of the student teachers' placements.

Instructions:  When you enter the site, select “Begin” which opens up section 1 of 15.  The left side panel serves as a navigator and you can advance from section to section by clicking the box at the bottom or top depending on which direction you want to move. Once you finish all sections of the training (which should take about 90 minutes), your responses to the reflective questions will be recorded to show your successful completion of the training.

Reflective questions can be found at the end of sections 1, 3, 11, 12, and 14.  For the section 1 reflective questions, you'll need to scroll down past the Longhorn Creed.

If you leave and re-enter the site, the navigation panel starts back at 0% completion.  You simply need to start back where you left off and there’s no need to re-submit responses to the reflective questions already submitted.

In order to receive credit towards this requirement, please visit our Cooperating Teacher Training site.

If you have any questions regarding the Mentor Training requirement, please email Field Experiences or call (512) 471-1511.
