Turn on the Sound Booth video monitor. Press the power button at the top of the monitor.

 

Power light will be green when monitor is on.

 

Plug in the Mic in the Sound Booth to the mic input connected to the ProTools board.

Also plug in the Headphones for the Audio Talent

 

Turn on the Digital to Analog converter that feeds the video out of ProTools to the monitors.

Set to DIG IN

Note the quicktime must be DV-NTSC to play out of ProTools

Press the power button on the Panasonic Television- this must be on to see the monitor in the sound booth.

Input should be set to video 1

 

On the DIGI 002 press the Mute button to mute the speakers in the suite.

  • Press Mute
  • Press in input button for mic input on channel one
  • SoundBooth Headphone volume is adjusted via Headphone Level knob

 

 

Turn up channel one of the DIGI002 input also make sure that the Mic/Line button is pressed in for "Mic" input.








Adjust the input knob to adjust the Sound Booth "Mic" input level on channel one

 

Click on the Apple icon in the upperright
hand corner of the screen and choose System Preferences

 

Inside System Preferences window select the Sound icon to access the menu

 

Inside the Sound Menu select the Output Tab and select DigidesignHW (002) Firewire and close the window

 

Place the DV/NTSC compressed QuickTime on to one of the storage drives of the computer.

Don't try to use these files when saved to a DVD or the Classes/Transfer servers.




Launch ProTools and click >Create Blank Session

 

Choose the following Session Parameters

Audio File Type:
.BWF (.WAV)

24 BIT

Sample Rate:
48 kHz

 

Name the session and choose where to save it

 

Import the QuickTime movie to chase in the ProTools project.


Go to >File>Import>Video and navigate to the QuickTime file saved on the storage drive and select it.

 

The dialog will ask you where to put the newly imported Video track. Select "New Track" and click OK

 

To show the movie on an external monitor go to >Options>Video out FireWire

 

Make a new Mono (or stereo) track and title it

 

Create a track – click Create

 

Go to Setup>Playback Engine and make sure it is set to

 

Input and output should be set to Digidesign HW (002)

 

When recording audio to eliminate the headphone latency you can turn on

"Low Latency Monitoring"

 

Go into the ProTools Menus >Windows > Show I/O view to display the I/O view on the track

 



and select A1 (Mono) or A1 A2 (Stereo)

Record as needed using normal ProTools recording procedure by hitting play on the transport window while the record button is enabled.

Should see input levels in ProTools I/O view. Set inputs so the levels are in the green to yellow areas. If levels are going into red then turn down input faders on Mixing Board (explained above.)
