Download/Installation:

1. Click "App Downloads" in the left menu

2. Choose the appropriate installer for your OSSelect the operating system of the machine you are using to begin the UTBackup/Crashplan download.

3. Run the installer from the downloads directory, or wherever the installer was saved.
   • On Mac systems, open the .dmg file. 
   • It appears as a drive on the desktop. 
   • Open it.
4. Run the installer.
5. Follow the install prompts, providing administrator account credentials as necessary.

CrashPlan Agent Sign in:

1. Immediately after installation, CrashPlan will launch. 
2. If your account already exists (this is most likely): 
   • Use your EID credentials in the username and password fields
   • See important Info above for server/registration information.
3. If a new account needs to be created, complete the registration - See important Info
   
   • Complete the registration, or contact the CNS OIT helpdesk to create an account for you.
   • See "Important Info" above for server/registration information. 
   • Contact the helpdesk for the registration key or if you have any trouble registering
   .If the account already exists, complete the username and password fields - See important Info above for server/registration information

Configuration

1. Click the "Change" button.
2. Select the user profile for backup by placing a check in the box next to it..Deselect the following:
4. BOX Sync, Google Drive, DropBox, any other cloud service/sync, as files in these directories are already in the cloud.
5. Applications
6. Movies (unless data is stored there.)
7. Music (unless data is stored there.)
Click "Save".
8. Select Click the "backup destination" as Start Backup" button next to  "UTBackup-Master".
9. Click the "Start Backup" button.

Restore

Small restores can be done via the crashplan website at https://utbackup.its.utexas.edu.
