Overview

The University of Texas Coalition for Careers in Public Service (CCIPS) extends an invitation to share your organization's career opportunities (full-time, part-time and student internship positions) with students of The University of Texas at Austin and with other students and residents of the Central Texas area.

Our first five Non Profit & Public Sector Career Fairs attracted a mix of students and area residents to discuss career opportunities with over 40 organizations. For our sixth Fair, we will be in the Texas Union, central to all student activities. Take this opportunity to market your needs to a talented and dedicated group of people who are committed to careers in the nonprofit and public sectors.

How Charity Recruiters Make the Most of Career Fairs

Tips for Employers/Organizations

  1. Don't wait for students to approach you. Be assertive, friendly, and sincere.  Step out from behind the display table to make yourself more approachable.  You can use handouts or brochures to initiate a conversation with students.
  2. Ask students friendly, open-ended, yet specific questions such as, "What can I tell you about a career in  _________?"   "Are you looking for an internship, job, or volunteer opportunity?" "What type of organization would you like to get involved with?" "What can I tell you about my organization?"
  3. Share personal career information and typical steps to success.  What is it you enjoy about your work or your organization?
  4. Candy or gum is a great incentive for those to visit your table!
